Thanks Doug. I agree that there's little or no musical aspects to the lines, but the
subtitles, concocted seventy years after the initial release of the film to assist the
understanding of an English-speaking audience, were themselves overwhelmed by the
brilliant soundtrack which the director gathered from diverse sources and edited. I wrote
down only 9 lines during the whole 110 minute film, but I did think I had captured an
aspect. It turned out to be a kind of conversation between a ladykiller and a proto-
feminist, not unlike the rebuke (and weak response) received towards the end of the film
by the very handsome male lead from his first conquest.
