Cancer Equality is seeking an enthusiastic individual with a commitment to
carrying out research to join the team. Based at their offices in Vauxhall,
he/she will play a key part in the day-to-day running of a national literature
search of grey literature on cancer among minority ethnic groups in the United
Kingdom. The aim of this research, which is funded by the National Cancer
Action Team (Department of Health), is to identify and collate any unpublished
BME Cancer research. Findings will contribute to the development of improved
support services for BME communities affected by Cancer.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Tariq Saleem. In
addition, the research is being guided by a Project Advisory Panel comprising
of members from the management board of cancer equality.
Applicants should have previous experience of working in a research
environment; familiarity with conducting literature reviews, working in cancer
setting with BME communities, excellent IT, communication and organisational
skills and have the ability to interact confidently with staff at all levels.
Attention to detail is essential. Applicants must have the ability to work to
tight deadlines and prioritise their workload as they will often have to juggle
conflicting demands on their time. They must also use their initiative and to
work largely independently.
