Dear colleagues
The query below comes from Brian Egloff, President of the
International Committee for Archaeological Heritage Management, ICOMOS. He is seeking authors for a(nother) Heritage at Risk publication, as he describes in the below email. These publications have wide distribution on the ICOMOS website, and appear in hard copy too.
This planned volume focuses on the impact of the illicit trade in artifacts on heritage places. I wonder if something highlighting the danger to historic battlefields of unregulated metal detecting might be relevant? They can hardly claim it not to be of international relevance if a group from various countries put something together! I'm happy to co-ordinate if you like, or to leave it to others with more direct experience. But it looks looks like a good opportunity to me.
All best

Dear Colleagues
I have been asked by ICOMOS to bring together a list of contributors and their subjects for a forthcoming volume of Heritage at Risk that will deal with the impact of the illicit trade in artefacts on heritage places. Heritage at Risk is a publication that alerts the international community to place related risks that for the most part are perceived to be of importance to the international heritage community by either members of the impacted country or by those individuals with support by international colleagues.
The objective will be to obtain an international spread of contributors.
As the issues are contemporary it is not anticipated that the authors will have extensive bibliographies, citations or offer a purely academic approach.
All contributions will be reviewed and the final make-up of the publication will need to be approved by both UNESCO and ICOMOS.
The latest issue of Heritage at Risk can be down loaded from:

Thank you for your kind attention and cooperation
