Hi all,
There has been a discussion (see
https://secure.mysociety.org/admin/lists/pipermail/developers-public/2009-January/003642.html)
that's kicked off on the mySociety developers mailing list that I thought
I'd bring to the group's attention. (mySociety are a charitable organisation
that produce websites like FixMyStreet and TheyWorkForYou).
Someone's suggested that it'd be worthwhile to build an online archives of
electioneering material (pamphlets and so on). They suggested using Flickr
to encourage people to upload scans of material distributed at forthcoming
elections, but discussion soon turned to existing archives. Someone
mentioned the Labour History Musuem as a potential, which seems to have been
amalgamated into the People's History Museum (http://www.phm.org.uk/), who's
website is a little under-construction, to match the museum.
My questions to the group are:
* does your musuem hold any collections of electioneering material? Are they
digitised?
* what would a project to build a collective online archive of such material
look like? There's clearly an interest in such an endeavour.
* do you either work at the People's History Museum, or know someone who
does? If so, please get in contact.
Thanks all,
Frankie
