Hi Jon,
I'm using https://www.txttools.co.uk/ [although their server is down
this very moment], and find it a great and user-friendly service.
I have to admit that I haven't been involved in setting up the service
(that was done by the School's IT dep.), but I have used it to text
large groups, small groups and single students, which all works well.
It's also easy to add new names, make groups, and keep track of who is
receving their texts.
I guess the main problem (regardless of service provider) is, and would
always be, keeping the phone number list up-to-date, as the Library is
usually not the first to be told when a student gets a new mobile ...
I'll be happy to discuss further if you're interested, and if you would
like to contact someone in our IT dept for discussing technical bits or
setting up the service, I'll be happy to provide contact details.
Have a good day, and a good weekend!

Subject: Mass texting services
Hi all,
I'm on various project groups at my library, and have started to think
about text communication services to large groups of students and staff.
Services such as http://www.txtsignal.com/overview.shtml exist, but I'm
wondering if anyone has either used or knows of such services (and would
be willing to share this information). It's certainly interesting, and
I'd be delighted to swap ideas.
Have a good day,
Jon Fletcher
