Nick and all ...
Whether we end up with a dedicated conference, mini-conferences,
on-line conferences we should at least maintain intercative exchange.
(I think this forum suffers from being two lists, one for serious new
proposals and one for responses, rather than one "dialogue" - but that
is an aside.)
Your final para is key for me. Messaging ... ie "marketing" in my book.
We should not just be looking for channels, vehicles and events to get
our message across, we should also be spending effort on what "our
message" is. Encapsulating it different ways, different metaphors,
different narratives, for different audiences ...
We actually have two messages I believe ... Wisdom and Wisdom Enquiry
... I think you dubbed them. Unfortunately it takes a lot of
determined reading to unravel what those two messages are, and make
them distinct from all the other well-intentioned, progressive, social
action agendas. Yes "education, education, education" is key, but
that's true of everything of any value.
Everyone ... what are our "distinct" messages ... before we attach
them to the specific issues "of our time" ?
