PhD Studentships
The School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) houses the largest
concentration of world leading and internationally excellent health
services researchers in the UK (www.researchresearch.com).
ScHARR invites applications for 3 studentships:
2 ESRC +3 Quota Studentships for 3 year PhDs on a range of topics,
including your own choice. Please see the ScHARR website
(www.shef.ac.uk/scharr) for our range of disciplines and research
interests including public health, epidemiology, health services
research, health economic and decision science, medical statistics,
social sciences and mental health. Applicants for these studentships
must satisfy the ESRC eligibility criteria. See www.esrc.ac.uk.

Sheffield University Studentship for a 3 year PhD. Includes funding for
three years to cover fees for PhD registration (UK) a maintenance grant
(£13,290 in 09/10) and a Research Training Support Grant. Applications
on public health and the prevention of stroke are particularly welcome.

2 PhD studentships in Sheffield
Applications are invited for 2 PhD studentships as part of the
Inequalities Implementation Theme of the NIHR Collaboration in
Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care for South Yorkshire
(SYCLAHRC). This is a 5-year partnership between Sheffield Hallam
University, University of Sheffield, NHS and 3rd sector organisations
focused on improving patient outcomes through applied research and
service design in the areas of chronic long-term conditions, self
management, health inequalities and public health. Studentship 1: based
in the Centre for Health & Social Care Research, Sheffield Hallam
University. Focus on one of the following: healthcare access among
people with learning disabilities; inequalities in early diagnosis of
chronic illness; or chronic health conditions and worklessness. Contact:
