We have continued with OCR Economics and have found it quite easy to
prepare for January. Teacher A does most of the market systems, teacher
B starts with the basic economic problem and opportunity cost, then
moves to maker failure. I totally agree with the trade off being they
wont want macro till next week and they have missed out.
On Business we continued with AQA and were really happy with the new
course.

I agree wholeheartedly with Roger. It is one reason why we are applying
as a
school to do the IB.
We have moved from AQA Economics to OCR. We have two teachers per
teaching
group. How do you divide the teaching time to cover unit 1by
Christmas?
Personally, I cannot see how this could be done. And then why limit
teaching
to microeconomics when there is such a wealth of good current macro
material? Doing macro first I do see as a possibility. We do feel that
the
AS is becoming easier and that there will be a bigger step up to A2 in
Economics than before.
We also take AQA Business and we have not changed boards. While we see
the
logic of the way the spec is written (and we could easily have put
students
in for unit 1 now), we are not finding the new stuff on starting a
business
very stimulating. Maybe that is us, maybe we will grow to like it.
There is
plenty of material to use but not enough meat for our (bright)
students.
Just a few thoughts!
