Assitivity: Empowering Diverse Students with Technology
The Learning Lab is pleased to announce that the fourth seminar in its 2008-
09 seminar series will take place on Wednesday 21 January 2009, from 10:00-
16:00 at the Learning Lab in Telford.
Widening participation policies have promoted a diversity of students to enter
education, closely followed by the introduction of a range of technologies that
support and empower student cognition. Using real-life examples of
technologies in action, speakers will introduce a range of concepts and
solutions.
This one day seminar features three presentations from both educational and
commercial angles, and includes plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Speakers will include Sal Cooke from TechDis who will be looking
at 'empowering institutions to support an ever increasingly diverse student
population'; Nic Musgrove, Richard Homfray and Eleanor Cohn from the
University of Wolverhampton will be discussing "IT and sympathy: Integrating
accessibility and student support" and Gurjit Kahlon from the Royal National
Institute for the Blind who will be giving the RNIB's perspective.
As a not-for-profit organisation, the Learning Lab is able to offer this seminar
at just £80 per person, to include lunch and refreshments. To book online, or
to print a fax-back booking form, please go to the Learning Lab Website –
www.learninglab.org.uk. Please note that places are limited to the first 20
bookings to maximise interaction so please book early to secure your place.
