Is this an experiment? If it is, as a participant, I thoroughly object to this press release. I agree with the concept but not the
wording. Normally, my membership to this group is best defined as a lurker, not a typer but if this is the ethos and general
consensus of the majority who subscribe to this group, that the language is deemed appropriate for press release, I therefore wish
to retract my subscription. Language whether you are looking at a collection of people or an individual, can make a peron or
group feel powerful or powerless and are subsequently tagged as informed or deviant. 'Language gives us the power to order,
request, persuade and accuse' (Potter & Wetherall in the 90s I recollect) and I think that there is, 'more than one way to skin a
cat! (cliche I learnt as a child and a member of a 'deprived community/family'. If you report this statement as an opinion of
'us' as a collective, may I suggest that you identify the number of people that met and place that figure within the context of
the amount on the list and state how many people subsribe to the wider network. Just a thought and emotion combined more than a
thought and an emotion in a particular order....
