Professor with special duties in Human-Centered Computing, Department of Computer Science, Copenhagen University
The Department of Computer Science seeks a professor with special duties in Human-Centered Computing. Starting in September 2009, the University of Copenhagen will offer an undergraduate program in Information Technology (IT) and Communication. The professor is expected to play a central role in teaching and research activities related to this program, as well as in the development of a planned masters (MSc) program in IT and Communication at the university. The professor is also expected to attract external funding to help establish a research portfolio within Human-Centered Computing at the Department.
The applicant should have a strong publication record with an emphasis on human-centered methodologies, communication, and digital media and on how these are designed and used in organizational contexts - as well as human, social, and cultural aspects of computing. Preferred applicants have experience with practical design projects or have conducted research on design projects, and have documented ability to attract external research funding. Applicants with a background in research areas like Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work, Computer Mediated Communication, and Participatory Design are of special interest. Research themes may include, but are not limited to:
* Theories and methods for IT design.
* IT-project management in complex organizations.
* Empirical studies of communicative practices.
* Innovative IT products and services for the support of communicative practices.
* Impact of computing technology.
The position is open from May 1, 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter. Duties may include the successful applicants own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department. After five years, the special duties will cease, and the appointee will be given a regular post as Associate Professor.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State (www.perst.dk/db/filarkiv/12811/004-06.pdf). While negotiation for salary supplement is possible, the starting salary is currently up to DKK 558,134 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 95.441)
