The Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol is
seeking to appoint a Research Associate to carry out research and
development in Mobile User Interactions funded as part of a strategic
partnership between Mobile VCE and EPSRC. This is a unique opportunity
to interact closely with the industry in shaping the research project.
The broad goals of this post will be to investigate various
interaction modalities and device ecologies to facilitate new service
capabilities through such multi-part and multi-device interactions.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in human-computer interaction
with a good honors first degree in computer science or a related
discipline. Good computer programming skills in Java/C# and ability to
prototype physical user interfaces are required. Knowledge of user
interaction issues surrounding mobile/ubiquitous computing research
would be preferable. A broad interest in human-computer interaction,
particularly physical prototyping and qualitative and quantitative
evaluation approaches, is desirable.
Timescale of appointment: 3 yrs Fixed Term Contract
