Cultural and Creative Industries Track
At the Bam conference 2008, the Cultural and Creative Industries Track
collaborated with Gender in Management; E-Business and E-Government and
Identity for special paper sessions, symposia and a workshop. Following
this success, we have organised the following special sessions for 2009.
Alongside our normal paper sessions we would like to invite authors to
submit to the following two joint sessions.
E-Business and the Cultural and Creative Industries.
Finola Kerrigan, Dirk vom Lehn and Feng Li
Following the success at BAM2008, this year we will once again organise
a special joint session between the E-Business and E-Government Track
and the Creative and Cultural Industries Track. We would like to invite
papers which examine (but not limited to) the following issues:
* The impact which technological changes and e-business have had
upon the cultural and creative industries
* How new technologies have changed creative work, introduced new
financial models and changed how customers engage with creative and
cultural industries.
* The interplay between E-Business and the Creative and Cultural
Industries are welcome as are papers from a wide range of methodological
and theoretical perspectives.
Gender issues in the Cultural and Creative Industries

We invite papers to be submitted to a special paper session which will
explore issues regarding the interplay between gender, career and the
cultural and creative industries. Papers may examine (but are not
limited to) the following themes:
* Gendered work in the cultural and creative sector
* Equality of access to cultural and creative work
* Expressions of gender through creative work
Design Management (special Retail and Marketing and Cultural and
Creative Industries Session)
Tony Kent, Dirk vom Lehn and Finola Kerrigan
We invite papers for a special session on design management. Papers may
wish to examine (but are not limited to) the following themes:
* frameworks for collating and disseminating knowledge about
developments in design management theory & practice
* the changing contexts within which design management practice
operates
* exploring the changing roles of design management practitioners
and educational needs
* working in the design sector- the cultural/ commercial interplay
The role of the cultural and creative industries in Hospitality, Tourism
& Leisure (special session with Cultural and Creative Industries and
Hospitality Tourism & Leisure)

We invite papers for a special session examining the intersection of
cultural and creative industries and hospitality, tourism and leisure.
Many cities and regions highlight the cultural and creative industries
in their leisure and tourism campaigns and many visitors plan to visit
attractions due to the cultural institutions or events within their
location of choice or due to the iconic nature of the place established
by its association with film, music or literature. Papers may wish to
examine (but are not limited to) the following themes:
* the use of cultural institutions as tourist attractions
* place marketing and cultural events
* leisure, hospitality and tourism campaigns and the intersection
with the cultural and creative industries
* the importance of film, music and literature in developing
hospitality, leisure and tourism
* the consumption of culture as leisure
Exploring issues of identity in the cultural and creative industries.

Following a thought provoking workshop on issues of identify in the
cultural and creative industries at the BAM 2008 conference, we would
like to invite papers which examine issues of identify within the
cultural and creative industries. For many working in this sector,
their occupation is a key element of their wider identity, similarly,
consumption of cultural and creative products may be influenced by and
influence issues of identity. Papers may wish to examine (but are not
limited to) the following themes:
* Identity work in the cultural and creative industries
* The consumption of art and culture and enactment of identity
* Representing identity through cultural and creative products
Submitting Your Papers and Proposals
Both empirically and conceptually based full papers and developmental
papers are welcome. We also invite proposals for Symposium and
Workshops. Like previous years, selected papers will be published in a
journal special issue and possibly also in an edited book. For further
