Dear all,
I am part of a large project which will, in a few years, release an online database with
linked images of complete files from the early 20th century period (colour, 300dpi).
We are currently focused on the file formats and the preservation of the scanned images.
It is a given that we need a preservation master , however the sheer amount of files that
we are prepared to scan is really significant and after a few tests, TIFF seems to be an
exceedingly huge format to store. Obviously I would not use Jpeg...etc... as master copy.
The PM would be eventually stored on LTO tapes.
I am willing to explore other roads and I would like to know whether anybody had worked
with PDF/A before..... in small or large scale projects. I would be interested in using this
format as archival/preservation copy.
I will welcome any other solutions or ideas!
Regards,
Cecile
