Please send this information on to anyone who is interested and remembers Nigel from his professional career in archives in Kent, Portsmouth and elsewhere.
Professor Nigel Yates DD, 1st July 1944 - 15th January 2009
A memorial lamp for Nigel has been lit in the University Chapel at Lampeter. A book of
condolence has also been opened in the Chapel for anyone who might wish to
record their condolences, or their regard and affection for Nigel and
appreciation of him. This book has been placed next to the new votive stand
for those who might also wish to light a votive candle.
The arrangements for Nigel's funeral are as follows:
Thursday 22nd January
Nigel's body will be returned to the family home at 7 Station Terrace on
Thursday morning. Anyone wishing to pay their respects to Nigel and the
family are most welcome to do so from 10 am onwards.
Nigel's body will be placed to rest in the university chapel for 5:30 pm on
Thursday evening and this will be followed immediately by a service of
Vespers for the Dead.
Friday 23rd January
The Funeral Service will be a Requiem which will begin in the Chapel at
Midday. In anticipation of large numbers of people wishing to attend, the
service will also be broadcast live to a screen in the Old Hall. It was
Nigel's express wish that any staff who wished to do so should be able to
process into the chapel in their academic robes. If you wish to join the

The service will be followed by a buffet lunch in the University Refectory.
