With apologies for duplicate posting

Below is the call issued on 8 January, and this is a reminder that the
call closes on Friday 30 January.

Regards,

Seb Schmoller

Dear Colleagues,

ALT wishes to fill several vacancies on its main voluntary committees as
and to coopt two individuals as i) Chair of the Membership Services
Committee and ii) Chair of the Further Education Committee. (The
co-opted Chairs would become Trustees of ALT and would join the ALT
Central Executive Committee, which is ALT's governing body, and the ALT
General Purposes Committee.)

The current membership of our committees is at
http://www.alt.ac.uk/operational_committees.html and the current
membership of the ALT Central Executive Committee is at
http://www.alt.ac.uk/central_executive_committee.html.

Vacancies are as follows.

1. Membership Services Committee - we have vacancies for two new
members, for an initial three year term, one of whom we hope will be
from the private sector. (The membership services committee
oversees all of ALT's membership services, including CMALT, with the
exception of the ALT annual conference.)

2. Further Education Committee - we have vacancies for three new
members, for an initial three year term, and we are keen to strengthen
the geographic spread of representation to include from Northern
Ireland, and to strengthen representation from Scotland and Wales. (The
Further Education Committee provides ALT with guidance concerning ALT's
activities in, and policy responses relating to, the learning and skills
sector.)

3. Research Committee - we have vacancies for two new members, for an
initial three year term. (The Research Committee is responsible for the
ALT Research Policy, and for a range of research related activities,
policy responses, etc. The Research Committee is chaired by Professor
Robin Mason. The vice-chair is Professor John Cook.)

4. Publications Committee. (The Publications Committee oversees the
production of all our print and web based publications including the
Newsletter, the Digest, occasional publications, and plays a key
steering and shaping role on the ALT Journal. The Publications Committee
is chaired by Dick Moore.)

i) we need to appoint to the following roles, for an initial three year
term:
	a) an occasional publications editor
	b) a web publications editor who would also act as deputy
	for the occasional publications editor

ii) we are keen to appoint two additional members, for an initial three
year term, one of whom will need to have an interest in and experience
of "Web 2.0".

Members of all ALT committees are expected to become individual members
of the association if this is not already the case.

ALT operational committees meet three times per year, with at least one
of these meetings normally conducted by telephone or web conference. For
members who require it, ALT will reimburse travel and reasonable
out-of-pocket expenses.

The ALT Central Executive Committee meets face to face three times per
year, and the ALT General Purposes Committee meets by teleconference for
one hour on the third Thursday of the month between 09.30 and 10.30
(latest).

Face to face meetings are typically held in Birmingham.

To express an interest in any of these roles, please complete one of the
following four forms, by no later than Friday 30 January.
