Hi all
The documents "Inclusive Mobility" and "Guidance on the use of tactile paving
surfaces" refer to the use of corduroy paving and another similar (but not the
same) profiled paving for use on segregated, shared use routes. Does anyone
know how the profiled paving along the route which is laid either as a 'ladder
pattern' or 'tramline pattern' is used on UNSEGREGATED routes. I know that
corduroy paving is used where footpaths etc join shared routes but it is not
clear to me how the paving should be used when the route is unsegregated.
I normally advise against the principle of shared routes but am involved with
an existing situation where the designers are insistant that there is no need
for any tactile warning along the route because it is not a segregated route
but is unsegregated. I have advised them that it will be even more important
to use warning surfaces in the case of unsegregated routes but the guidance
does not allow for this.
clear as mud?????
any thought gratefully appreciated.
