PS: If you are interested in Ayurvedic medicine I have a short
introduction published under the title
"Medicine of the Gods: basic principles of Ayurvedic medicine"
As to Descartes - there are powerful "alternatives" to his theories -
although he is widely taught as part of philosophy courses
and is thought by some to be highly influential on our attitude to nature.
Suppose I was tempting you to let us have the killer argument??
Even so - Descartes is just one version of the Dualist philosophy and
Indian philosophy as it happens,
has some older and more sophisticated versions - ie Samkhya Dualism -
which if you're not familiar with the text - is not a religious as such
but a systematic
philosophical dialogue.
