Estimados Colegas:

Dear Colleagues:

Along with my greetings, I wish you a Happy Year 2009 to all of you. Also I wish to inform you that Centros de Integración Juvenil, A.C. (CIJ), a non-profit civil association dedicated to the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, training on addiction and addiction research, will carry out the World Congress on Addictions “Experiences based on evidence” on the occasion of our 40th anniversary. This event will take place in Mexico City on 21st-25th September.

The annual Congress of CIJ is a meeting in which specialists and experts from international and national organizations interchange experiences and present new models and strategies of addiction care.

Over the years, the Congress have relied on the participation of experts from international organizations as United Nations (UN), World Health Organization (WHO), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Organization of American States (OAS), Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), International Council on Alcohol and Addictions (ICAA), White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of U.S. Department of State (USDS), Substance Abuse & Mental Health and Human Services (SAMHSA) of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (USHHS), Drug Prevention Network of the Americas (RIPRED) and Ibero-American Network of NGOs working in the field of Drug Dependence (RIOD), among others.

Also, the contributions of numerous renowned specialists in the field of addictions from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and governmental institutions of Mexico and several countries of America, Asia and Europe have enriched these meetings, in which diverse actors that fight against addictions from different fields participate year by year.

I would like to extend the invitation to all physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, sociologists, researchers and professionals in the field of addictions and related areas to participate in the World Congress on Addictions 2009 “Experiences based on evidence”.

If you would like or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me or visit the Web site: http://www.cij.gob.mx

I look forward to your participation and remain with best wishes,

Ps. Carmen Fernández Cáceres
