Still Time To Book: Museums and Social Networking Online, a seminar at The
Herbert, Coventry, on Jan 21
Some places are still available on this seminar, on an interesting and
current subject for most of us in the online cultural sector. If you'd like
to come along on Wednesday January 21, get in touch with seminar
co-ordinator Jon Pratty by Friday, January 16.
The Seminar
Renaissance West Midlands recently commissioned digital publishing
consultant Jon Pratty to conduct research into how museums use online social
networks like Facebook.
Issues arising from the research will be presented at a free, participatory
seminar being held on Wednesday January 21st at The Herbert, Coventry.
How easy is it to make Facebook work for you and your museum? What are the
big do's and don'ts of having a group presence in a populous social network
environment? Questions like these will be explored with reference to recent
case studies, wider research, and a live demonstration of setting up a
group.
Registration begins from 10.30 am, and the day ends at 4pm. Morning and
afternoon refreshments are provided by courtesy of the Herbert, and
lunchtime refreshment is courtesy Renaissance West Midlands. The Herbert
Museum and Art Gallery, right next to Coventry Cathedral, is easily
accessible from most parts of the Midlands.
Places are limited to fifteen participants, and preference will be given to
West Midlands-based museum, library or archive staff.

If you miss this opportunity to catch up with the fast moving world of
Facebook, Renaissance West Midlands will be posting full details and notes
from the research on the hub website for future reference. See more at:
