Edinburgh University Press is delighted to offer free online access to
our journals via EUP Journals Online at www.eupjournals.com in January
and February 2009.
From January 2009 we will be withdrawing the following EUP journals from
Project MUSE:
Comparative Critical Studies
Dance Research
Episteme
Holy Land Studies
Innes Review
Journal of Victorian Culture
Paragraph
Romanticism
Scottish Historical Review
Studies in World Christianity
Translation and Literature
Why is EUP withdrawing from Project Muse?
The decision to withdraw from Project MUSE was based on a combination of
factors. The launch of EUP Journals Online in January 2008 meant that it
was no longer imperative to offer access through an alternative
platform. Analysis of MUSE usage and EUP subscriptions also showed that
subscription attrition due to migration to MUSE was significantly
affecting some journals, and in some cases threatening their viability.
Bringing full control of online subscriptions back to EUP also allows us
more closely to monitor subscriptions, usage and growth of the journals,
while protecting the subscriber base, which, in the long-term, should be
of benefit to the journals and their readers. EUP Journals Online has
the added benefit of including all EUP journals, not merely the
selection available through MUSE.
How can I ensure my institution retains access?
We realise that librarians may have concerns about this change in
availability. To help with this we are offering:
* Free access to all our journals online through www.eupjournals.com
throughout January and February 2009 to ensure continuous access for
readers.
* Free access to back content with a current subscription to any EUP
journal via EUP Journals Online. Back content is currently available to
2000 where available, and further back issues will be added throughout
2009.
* Perpetual access via MUSE to the EUP journals already included in the
MUSE collection.
