March 2009 (Leeds)
The Triangle Between Racial, Gender And Disability Discrimination
Following the first conference of its kind in 2007, CELLS is pleased to
announce the Second European Conference on Multidimensional Equality Law
(SEMCEL), which it will convene in cooperation with the Centre for
Disability Studies (CDS), Centre of Ethnicity and Racism Studies (CERS)
and Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies (CIGS) at the University
of Leeds. The British Academy has kindly agreed to support this
conference financially.
SECMEL will continue the critical reflection of multidimensional
equality law and intersectional discrimination under EU law. The
conference will focus on the triangle between racial, gender and
disability discrimination. Papers are invited that discuss intersections
between these and on the notions and their "Fuzzyness". Please see our
call for papers for more details. The deadline for submitting papers has
been prolonged until the 20 January 2009 for PhD students only. Any
