Hello fellow Socrels
My name is Lois and I'm PhDing at Cambridge, working on non-religion
sociology and the relationship between ideological and social structure. At
the moment, I'm working on setting up a research network to put researchers
working in this growing area in touch with one another. For more
information, the formal invite goes as follows:
The Non-religion and Secularity Research Network (NSRN) is an international
and interdisciplinary network of researchers interested in non-religion and
secularity - in positions, that is, which are defined in reference to
religion but which are themselves considered to be somehow other than
religious.
This research agenda is inclusive, concerned with a range of perspectives
and experiences, including the atheistic, agnostic, religiously indifferent
or areligious, as well as some forms or aspects of secularism, humanism
and, indeed, religion. It also addresses the theoretical and empirical
relationships between non-religion, religion and secularity.
The network was set up recently (November 2008) and its current activity
involves advertising for researchers working in this area, compiling a
researcher directory and making that available to all members. An email
list has also been set up for circulating information and resources (new
publications, conferences and projects, etc.) and as a point of contact for
anyone requiring specialist advice or discussion. The NSRN website is in
production.
If you would like more information about the NSRN, or are researching in
this area and would like to be involved, please email me at
[log in to unmask] In addition, if you know of anyone else working in this
area - in sociology and elsewhere - I'd be most grateful if you would
forward this message on or email me your suggestions.
Many thanks
Lois
