Apologies for cross postings
Attached [*] please find a flyer for the 2009 Rotblat Essay Competition.
Please forward this to any students and young professionals (UK residents)
who might be interested. First prize is £500.
The competition is designed to build upon recent bipartisan public
statements from current and former leaders emphasizing the need to build
toward an eventual nuclear weapons free world. It also includes a
question exploring the social responsibilities of scientists, for those
who have a broader interest in science, technology, and society studies.
We hope those of you who are teaching next term might consider using these
questions as part of the assigned coursework for your students.
Could you please let us know of any relevant listservs or other ways in
which we might bring this competition to the attention of a broader
audience?
Best wishes,
Sandra Butcher
Director, Pugwash History Project
Joint Executive Secretary, British Pugwash Group
P.S. As always, if you would be interested in having someone come to
speak about the history of Pugwash, Joseph Rotblat, or some element of the
topics addressed, please contact us.
