Financial support for people to make a career move into OH is sadly lacking.
Subscribers who are RCN members may be able to get some assistance through
the RCN SOHN.
One of my predecessors, Peter Holgate*, left a legacy in his will to support
the education of OHNs who wished to access the RCN course - now based at
London South Bank University. Contact the RCN SOHN or Moira Lambert to find
out more.
*Peter was the course director for the OH degree at the RCN Institute of
Advanced when I was a student. A few years after I completed my
studies,Peter, at a comparatively young age, had an MI at the wheel of his
car and died as a result. His legacy is that he supports OHN education for
students registered on the RCN course which transferred to London South Bank
University in 2008.
What a generous man!!!
