Getting the manager's approval before going to OH is a potentially dangerous
step. What training will your organisation give the individual managers so
that they can make an informed and accurate decision about the employee
needing to see OH? If they don't will the manager be qualified to do this?
What if the manager refuses and the person then collapses, when quick action
by OH could have prevented this.
I think that in such a case the person's immediate manager and the manager
who implemented the proposal could find themselves in quite serious trouble.
Has the manager suggesting this approach considered this?
Also the requirement to provide a report with details needs to be thought
out well as it could contravene the requirement for medical confidentiality.
