The Wethered family of Bristol certainly included an Oliver, but I've no idea if he's the same one.
On July 29 1895, the Western Mail carried an advertisement for shares in the Dolcoath Mine Ltd. Oliver Wethered is listed as a director of the company and it notes that he was also a director of the London and Provincial Marine Insurance Company.
From other newspaper adverts of the period, he also seems to have been associated with Colonial Goldfields Ltd, West Australian Share Corporation Ltd and the Mexican and Central American Railway Ltd. I got this information from a quick skim through the British Library's online collection of nineteenth-century newspapers, so there may well be more (again, assuming that it's the same Oliver Wethered).
A look in the Directory of Directors might be useful if anyone can find a copy from that period.
