UKOLN is pleased to announce that a new set of briefing documents have been
published on the IntroBytes area of the Cultural Heritage section on the
UKOLN Web site - see http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/cultural-heritage/documents/
The new documents address the area of micro-blogging and provide an
introduction to the concept and to Twitter and Seesmic (a video
micro-blogging service).
These documents have been tested at a number of workshops organised for the
cultural heritage sector, which have provided an opportunity to describe how
Twitter is being used within the cultural heritage sector and to listen to
various concerns that may have been raised and to address such concerns (we
describe potential benefits of micro-blogging, but also suggest that it need
not be for everybody).
As well as these new documents the interface to the IntroBytes area has been
updated in response to feedback we have received.
We have also created an RSS feed containing details of new documents - which
will enable you to be alerted to new releases via your RSS reader. Details
are available at http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/cultural-heritage/documents/#rss
We will be publishing additional documents in the new year, including
documents based on our involvement in JISC-funded activities (such as
preservation).
We would welcome feedback on the documents published to date - and also
suggestions for new areas to be covered. Feel free to email me with your
suggestions.
Thanks
Brian Kelly
