Dear MOA JISCmailers,
Just to follow on from Jessica's announcements a few days ago, I wanted
first to say hello from my new part-time position at the Archive.
I have been employed by the Trustees of the Archive as Development Director
(for one year at the moment) to carry out several key tasks, one of which
is to establish the research side of our activitiies more securely in the
academic area of Sussex. I have therefore set up an academic advisory group
composed of Sussex academics with Jessica and Fiona Courage (Special
Collections Manager) from the Library. One of our Trustees, Dr Claire
Langhamer, is a member which ensures a link with the Trust. We had our
first meeting this month and will be adding new members in the new year.
The other task is funding applications. The priority is to improve the
information we hold on the post 1981 MO Project ie set up a proper full
database. Ideas and suggestions welcome!
Also, delighted to see a flurry of discussion about MO, royalty and related
research themes recently. We frequently suggest that people making research
enquiries appeal on JISCmail for help from other researchers who have used
MO or worked in related areas. JISC mail is a bit unwieldy but has the
advantage over a blog because it appears in your email box and does not
rely on your having to remember to look at it.
We are thinking about an MO blog. What do you think?
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!
Dorothy
