Subject: Appointment of Director of Medical Education
Dear Programme Board colleagues -
Please see the attached note from Clare Chapman and Bruce Keogh,
announcing
the appointment of the Director of Medical Education.
Thanks
Tim
Appointment of Director of Medical Education
We would like to let you all know that following the recent recruitment
process we have appointed Dr Patricia Hamilton to the post of Director
of
Medical Education for England. Patricia is the President of the Royal
College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Consultant and Senior
Lecturer
in Neonatal Paediatrics at St. George's Hospital Medical School, London
and
a member of the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board. We
are
discussing start dates with Patricia and we look forward to welcoming
her
to the team.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Professor David
Sowden, who has been filling the role on an interim basis for the last
year. David has made an enormous contribution to both the Next Stage
Review broadly and to Medical Education specifically. David's
leadership
has also been highly valued by all he has worked with over recent
months.
He and the current MMC and Medical Education Team in the Workforce
Directorate have created extremely strong foundations for Patricia to
build
on.
David will be aiding the transition to ensure it is smooth and more will
be
announced shortly.
