Job Title: Archaeological Records Officer
Salary Details: £19,300 (Per annum/Pro rata)
Hours of Work: Full time (37 Hours per week)
Duration: (Temp) Initially 40 Weeks
Location of Work: Cadw Offices, Unit 5/7 Cefn Coed, Parc Nantgarw,
Nantgarw, Cardiff, CF15 7QQ
Purpose of Post:
The post holder will work within Cadw's Records Section, which provides
administrative and specialist support to approximately twenty-five staff in the
Inspectorate of Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings. The Inspectorate is
involved in a wide range of Cadw activities, but primarily the protection and
management of Scheduled Ancient Monuments, Listed Buildings, Registered
Historic Parks and Gardens, World Heritage Sites and designated landscape
areas.
The post involves the curation, management, updating and distribution of hard-
copy and digital information, the provision of advice to internal and external
Cadw partners and customers and to undertake development control activities.
Key Areas of Work:
 The maintenance, licensing and distribution of digital data
 Data entry and extraction from the Scheduled Monument Database (SMD2)
 Maintenance of archive information
 Development control planning checks
 First point of contact for Scheduled Ancient Monument enquiries
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate skills and the following
areas: -
Essential
 A degree in Archaeology or similar subject (such as History or Heritage
Management etc)
 A good knowledge of the general archaeological and historical background of
sites and monuments in Wales.
 Experience in computerised archaeological records and GIS.
Desirable
 Experience in archaeological-related Development Control activities.
Training will be provided.
