Subject: Seasons greetings
Hi
Just a short (well, not so short, as it happens) message to wish happy holidays to the members of the EHPG, HEN, LHEG, PEG and the AAHPN.
The European Health Policy Group held two successful meetings again this year, the first hosted by Miriam Wiley and the ESRI in Dublin, and the second hosted by LSE Health and co-sponsored by the Nuffield Trust. Gwyn Bevan has done a great job keeping the EHPG going. The Spring 2009 meeting will be held in Bologna.
The 2008 Health Equity Network annual lecture, delivered by Michael Marmot and responded to by Julian Le Grand, will be difficult to top. The King's Fund co-sponsored that event with LSE Health. Any ideas on what we might do next year would be gratefully received.
Shepley Orr has organised several successful Preference Elicitation Group meetings in the recent past. The next meeting in February has been organised by Jo Wolff, and will be on the subject of valuing health and life. Later next year, there will be a public lecture at the LSE delivered by one of the main American libertarian paternalists (still working on which one), sponsored by LSE Health and STICERD.
The London Health Economics Group now holds three evening meetings a year. The last one was hosted by Mireia Jofre-Bonet at City University. The next one will be hosted by LSE Health in February. If you would like to host one of these, please (please) let me know.
Finally, the Anglo-American Health Policy Network, formed last year, has a lively listserve, but has yet to host an actual event. It will do soon.
ok, that's about it. Many thanks for all your help with the above groups and networks, which, of course, couldn't exist without you. All we want next year is world peace.
Enjoy the break
Take care,
Adam
