I may have missed an announcement about this on the list but I'm sending
it in case it hasn't been submitted. I have just learned that Prof.
Robert Chimedza passed away on 25 September 2008 after a short illness.
Robert was a doctoral student with me at Michigan State University, USA,
in the 1990's. After earning his doctorate, he returned home to
Zimbabwe, where he eventually taught at Zimbabwe Open University and
served as a well respected administrator. Among other publications,
Robert has had recent chapters in Barton and Armstrong's book on policy
and my book with Scot Danforth on disability and the politics of
education. Robert had a long-standing collaboration with Susan Peters,
with whom he published several texts on disability rights in Zimbabwe.
Robert was well known to many of us in disability studies and he will be
missed, particularly for his strong commitment to disability rights in
Zimbabwe.
