Dear Sir or Madam,
Building on our green paper proposals No one written off: reforming welfare to reward responsibility we are delighted that we have today published a White Paper Raising expectations and increasing support: reforming welfare for the future, setting out the department’s plans for the next steps of welfare reform. Available for download at:
www.dwp.gov.uk/raisingexpectations
Your consultation in the production of this White Paper has been invaluable and we thank you for your views and feedback. We have ensured that all your points have been reviewed and considered in this process as we finalised this White Paper.
These reforms are based on a simple deal: more support matched by higher expectations. They mark a decisive step towards a personalised welfare state, where a simpler benefit system underpins the expectation that nearly everyone on benefits is preparing for or looking for work. We are determined to continue our radical approach to reforming the welfare state – based on opportunity for all and responsibility from all.
The alternative formats of the paper will be available very shortly.
Many thanks
The Welfare Reform Team
