Best wishes

I have been conducting research interviews lasting up to an hour by
means of Skype. Most free add-on packages allow you to record both sides
of a skype conversation for short times (15 minutes), but longer session
susually require the "pro" version. I capitulated and bought one that
was well spoken of by many users in various forums. I settled on the
improbably named "Pamela for Skype". It is available for free 30 day
trial at http://www.pamela-systems.com/
I have been surprised and delighted by the performance of both Skype and
Pamela, and my transcriber has had no difficulties at all with the sound
quality of the recordings I have sent her. The package has many features
that I have not needed or tried, to allow for rich annotation of the
session.
The basic (time limited) version is free. I went straight to the
professional (unlimited) version for USD$29.95 You can compare the
features of the verious versions at
http://www.pamela-systems.com/products/
I have no connection with Pamela systems except as a satisfied user.

Dear Lisa
I strongly recommend you explore the possibility of using SKYPE to do
your next interviews. We've just had a couple of good reports about the
use of SKYPE to do and record BNIM (biographic narrative) interviews.
Best wishes
Tom

Subject: Using e-mail to interview
Hello, all!
I am a Ph.D. student who is currently taking a qualitative research
methods class. As a part of this class, we have to conduct a mini
qualitative project with 3 participants. Due to some scheduling
difficulties, I conducted one of the interviews via e-mail. I am
wondering if anyone else has used e-mail in qualitative studies and can
offer any recommendations and/or tips learned.
Thank you!
Lisa
