Visiting International Fellowships in Social Justice
In order to foster the development of research in the area of social justice,
the School of Law and Social Sciences (LSS) at Glasgow Caledonian University
(GCU) has established a Visiting International Fellowship Scheme. Visiting
International Fellows will be established scholars who have a track record in
contributing to debates about social justice and will, normally, be active in the
following disciplines, Criminology, History, Law, Politics or Sociology. In
particular, research interest and expertise in the following fields will be most
welcome: health inequality, care, disability, human rights, poverty, diversity,
dignity at work, social history, the history of health and welfare, social
gerontology, citizenship, violence and security. LSS will welcome, particularly,
applicants who are interested in collaborative research with members of the
School. For more information about research and researchers in LSS visit:
http://www.gcal.ac.uk/lss/research/index.html
An honorarium of 3,000 pounds sterling will be paid to applicants who stay at
GCU for up to one semester (circa 3 months). One Fellowship with Honorarium
will be awarded in any one calendar year. Fellows may be appointed for a
shorter period for up to one month but this will not attract an honorarium.
Applicants will be established academics and will normally be on paid sabbatical
leave from their employer. Successful applicants will be expected to pay their
travel costs to Glasgow and their accommodation and subsistence costs during
their stay. Visiting international Fellows will have full access to university
facilities and will be provided with appropriate space to conduct scholarly
work.
Applications from persons from underrepresented and disadvantaged sections
of society are particularly encouraged. Successful applicants may need to
secure work permits and LSS would expect acknowledgement of its support for
any publications produced as a result of time spent at Glasgow Caledonian
University.
Applications should be sent to Michelle Connolly, School Research Coordinator,
