Research Associate in Statistical Genetics & Bioinformatics

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work in one of the world’s foremost psychiatric genetics group in research related to Molecular Genetics of Schizophrenia and other psychoses.
The role holder will integrate several large genome-wide genetic and genomic data sets, and perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses on them, with the aim of discovering functional pathways involved in susceptibility to schizophrenia and other major mental disorders. There will also be the opportunity to develop novel statistical methodology for these analyses. The position will be located within the environments of integrated internationally recognised research groups in Biostatistics, Genetic Epidemiology, and Molecular Genetics, and based at the Department of Psychological Medicine and the Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Unit (BBU), School of Medicine, Cardiff University.
Training will be available in statistical genetics and bioinformatics. The applicant should have experience of conducting and organising research projects, a demonstrable history of publications in the area, and a PhD in a highly related topic. Experience of statistical genetics and/or bioinformatics is desirable.
This post is fixed-term for 3 years.
Salary: £29,704- £35,469 per annum. (Grade 6)
