The University’s Screening and Test Evaluation Program (STEP) is expanding
its research in breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and prognostication. We
are looking for a research academic with interest and expertise in clinical
epidemiology and/or cancer research and epidemiology.
STEP is a NHMRC Program grant-funded multidisciplinary research team, and
will offer support and mentoring in the design, implementation and reporting
of projects. The role is available as a fixed-term contract for 12 months in
a part-time capacity of 0.4FTE.
The successful candidate will have a MPH or equivalent training in Public
Health or Epidemiology, with a demonstrated ability to conduct original
research and/or systematic reviews. Equally important will be research
experience in one or more of the following areas: evaluation of screening or
diagnostic tests; systematic reviews and critical appraisal; or cancer
epidemiology. An ability to summarise and interpret data analyses and to
write manuscripts is also required.
Experience in a collaborative research environment and a demonstrable
ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a research team and
with external collaborators will be essential. Consideration will be given
to applicants with clinical expertise or qualifications relevant to breast
cancer screening/diagnosis, provided they can demonstrate some evidence of
published research. Experience in publishing research and a proven ability
to conceptualise new research and/or in coordinating research projects will
be advantageous.
The position is part-time (0.4 FTE) fixed term for 12 months, subject to the
completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
Remuneration package: up to $78,289 - $84,037 pro rata (which includes a
base salary Level A $66,155 - $71,012 p.a., leave loading and up to 17%
employer’s contribution to superannuation).
