Hi Everybody
At my local HSBC Branch, I did ask the staff what policy they had in
accordance with their counters? I was told that 'all came from HQ' and as
far as they knew, local 'Access Groups' (of which they are plenty) were not
invited to give comment beforehand. There was a lower height desk for
'Disabled' (so the notice read) but the counter still was NOT suitable for
holding walking sticks. They had had numerous complaints with regards to the
general/main counter, from people whose walking sticks once placed on the
counter, would drop on to the floor (one incident where the stick hit a
young boy!). Also the problems do not just apply to walking sticks, but
umberellas too! I find this issue in Libraries too yet the Museum, where I
work, invited an 'Access Group' to join the initial discussions and there is
NO problem here (both under the same Council)! It seems to be very much on
the quanity/quality of 'research with Access Groups' beforehand!

Subject: [ACCESSIBUILT] Counters in Banks
Good morning,
Is there any information/documentation anywhere relating to making bank
counters/tellers accessible? for example providing a lowered counter.
I have plenty of info on ATMs but nothing relating to the interior of banks.
could any point me in the right direction?
Cheers
