'Focus on Mimas', December 2008
The December 2008 edition of 'Focus on Mimas' is now available at: http://www.mimas.ac.uk/focus/.
In this issue, we celebrate the success of Hairdressing Training for Mobiles, which won the Innovation Award at the prestigious Handheld Learning Awards 2008 in October. Also, we ask 'Why Mobile Learning?', a comment on how Mimas is ready to lead innovation in this area.
We highlight Intute and the integration work this service has been involved in recently, and there's also news about the first RLUK Conference and Copac's recent Challenge Fund activity.
Read about the latest Census Dissemination Unit (CDU) map mashup experiments, as well as Landmap TopSat tasking and news from ESDS International about its CommonGIS interface and new case studies.
Finally, there's news about the CDU's GeoConvert application and an ISI Web of Knowledge upgrade. We also show how two Archives Hub team members are making an archival contribution with chapters in a new book about archives. We also detail recent staff changes as well as Mimas-related courses/workshops and upcoming events such as the Jorum Forum Event in Manchester on 10 December 2008.
