Hi Linda
If you want a hosted version (easiest to implement) then I would very definitely say go for pbwiki. They have a free model as well as an academic pricing plan if you choose to expand and find the free one doesn't do enough for you.
I host the "mashed museum" web presence on there - you can get an idea of what's possible:
http://mashedmuseum.pbwiki.com/
Google Sites is worth looking at as well (http://sites.google.com) but tbh I think you'll probably find pbwiki better and easier.
I've tried WetPaint but personally I find it fairly restrictive.
Cheers
Mike

Can anyone tell me where and how I can set up my own wiki?
Will I have to pay? Is it easy to do?
