Dear David and John
Thank you very much for helping to identify this item. It's funny, it
looked so unusual to me, but with your explanations, it all seems to
make sense now!

Hi there Adam
It looks like a developing tank for glass plates, with the ability to
take small (Lantern slide) or larger format plates lengthways. Late 19th
- early 20th C? I am sure someone else can provide a more accurate date
and details.
Hope that's of help for starters!
Kind Regards,
David.

Hello
Does anyone have any ideas as to what this mystery object from my store
might be?!
It's listed as 'metal can; heating equipment (?)' on the box list, but
this may have been a complete stab in the dark!
The metal tin is 140 mm high, 190 mm wide and 105 mm deep.
As you will see, there is a kind of corrugated metal insert that fits
within, as well as another bit, the sides of which collapse for storage
(?) and two side pieces / dividers (?) that fit within this collapsible
bit. The main tin is made of steel I think, whereas the rest is made of
tin I think.
Hope someone can shed some light, thanks!
