Special Issue on: Bio-Inspired Business Systems
Aim and Scope
Computational and financial econometrics has been of interest for a
wide variety of researchers in economics, finance, statistics,
mathematics and computing. Financial time series analysis focus on
asset valuations over time with emphases on option pricing, volatility
measurement, and modelling market microstructure effects. Apart from
theoretical developments,financial time series analyses also have a
high empirical content. The computational aspects of such analyses are
of crucial importance since one typically deals with high-dimensional
problems and large numbers of observations. Existing algorithms often
do not utilize the best computational techniques for efficiency,
stability, or conditioning. Furthermore, environments for conducting
econometrics are inherently computer based. Integrated econometrics
packages have grown well over the years, but still have much room for
development. The field of biologically inspired computing has advanced
rapidly over the past decade. One offshoot of this progress has been
the development of plethoras of biologically inspired algorithms.
Broadly speaking, biologically inspired algorithms draw metaphorical
inspiration from diverse sources, including the operation of
biological neurons, processes of evolution, models of social
interaction amongst organisms, and natural immune systems, in order to
develop tools for solving real-world problems. The behavior of social
insects e.g. ant, bees, bacterial, birds etc largely influence several
problem solving metaphors.The problem encompasses from cargo
scheduling, routing, service management, telecommunication management,
financial forecasting, human resource modeling and many more. The
potential of web intelligence merged with biological algorithms also
drastically contribute the manifold avenues of implementing different
random distribution strategies on web paradigm especially web based
adslot management etc. This could be the next generation commitment of
business.
This special issue is devoted to advances in theory and
applications of the Bio-inspired computational Intelligence in
Business Systems. Roughly speaking, to develop effective and
bio-intelligent business applications and services, it is crucial to
discover useful knowledge through analyzing large amounts of contents,
hidden content structures, or usage patterns of web data resources.
For example, more and more business transactions are processed via the
Internet. Digital content is distributed online, transactions are
managed and sensitive information is exchanged. The development and
realization of business models for secure, user-friendly and
technically efficient distribution of virtual goods – e.g. MP3-files –
is the emphasis in the business area "Media Distribution and Security.
To achieve such a goal, a variety of techniques in diverse research
areas is needed to integrate properly, including artificial neural
networks, Genetic algorithm, rough sets, evolutionary algorithms and
business intelligence applications such as Mission-critical and
integral to an enterprise's operations or occasional to meet a special
requirement, enterprise-wide or local to one division, department, or
project, centrally initiated or driven by user demand, etc. This
special issue intends to provide a premier and open forum for the
dissemination of innovative bio-inspired computational techniques in
business intelligence systems applications. Original papers previously
unpublished and not currently under review by another journal are
solicited that cover one or more of the following topics, but are not
limited to:

Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality; original work that has
neither appeared in, nor is under consideration by, other journals
should be submitted to the Guest Editors using the following emails:

In parallel, manuscripts should be submitted online at
http://ees.elsevier.com/ins/ by the date of initial submission, double
spaced in 11 or 12-point fonts, with no more than 45 pages, inclusive
of all references, figures and tables. Submitted manuscripts will be
reviewed according to the peer review policy of the Information
Sciences Journal as available on-line at www.elsevier.com/locate/ins.
As papers are uploaded, authors should make sure to select the correct

when reaching the Article Type step). Only original and unpublished
papers will be considered.
