Many thanks to all those who replied to my question about the
'sickness that joins Death's image to Death itself'. The replies were
most helpful. I do suspect, on the whole, that Sidney is thinking of
some physical condition as he uses the word 'morbum', and he seems
here to be moving from the metaphoric to a physical referent, however
metaphoric the point of that may be. So I lean toward the 'coma'
explanation or even the sweating sickness .
