Hi
It was lovely to meet you at the conference.
I really am concerned about the lack of support for nurses new to OH. While I am delighted with the Black Report I really think we have to do something about ensuring there are enough suitably qualified OH nurses for the future (succession planning!). As she threw it back and said it was down to us I have been wondering what I can do to add my pennies worth.
When the government recognised there was a shortage of Maths teachers it was able to come up with a package that gave a golden Hello and bursary for people training. Would it be possible for those in HEIs to highlight the Catch 22 situation for nurses? I really want to help with knocking on that door but I look for guidance on how to do it? I could write to Alan Johnson personally but I tend to think being part of a larger body would be better.
If you have idea's on how I can become part of a 'Knock on the Door' campaign I would love to know.
Regards Janet
Ps I caught up with Mary McFadzen and we meant to swap email addresses. If you could forward my email address to her I would be very grateful.
