I have a question for colleagues working in HE libraries.
I - along with other colleagues within the library - am involved in the designing
and delivery of "library skills" sesions as a formal part of a "Critical Skills"
module within both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
This year our institution has given us the opportunity to apply for Associate
Fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy - the inferrence being that
those of us involved in what is termed "learning support" would not qualify for
full Fellowship status.
I am aware of librarians in similar roles at other institutions who have been
successful in gaining full Fellowship status, and I would be interested to hear
whether colleagues elsewhere have been encouraged to go down either route,
and - particularly - to get an idea of how many have been successfully
granted Fellowship in recent years. I will summarise results for the list.
Many thanks,
