Boy’s Reading
Education Librarians Group is launching this year’s series of children’s literature events with a fantastic opportunity to hear Alec Williams who will talk about Boys’ Reading at
· Roehampton University Library (South West London)
· on Wednesday 26th November 5-7 pm.
· Cost £8 (plus VAT @£1.40). Light refreshments will be available.

Alec Williams has extensive experience managing both school
library services and public library services to children. Working
independently since 1999, and a recent Chair of the School Library
Association, Alec is now a trainer, speaker, advocate for reading - and a
storyteller working regularly in schools. An Honorary Member of CILIP's Youth Libraries Group, Alec is also one of the National Literacy Trust's 'Reading Champions', for his work in encouraging boys to read, and frequently trains in this subject. Alec will talk about
o do boys read?
o what can we do to encourage boys to read?
o how can we resource boys' reading in our libraries?
o role models for reading
o sources of information on boys’ reading and good practice examples
o literacy initiatives and how to make the most of them
o ICT and boys’ reading
