Please note this conference on housing markets. There is a 'debate' on housing markets in housing and urban studies at the moment
that is sadly lacking in critical awareness. Typical debates are about 'housing market change' with an emphasis on 'restructuring'
housing markets so that they provide 'products' that meet the aspirations of the middle class. For all this, read demolition of
working class housing and state managed gentrification. The cosy consensus in the housing research industry, which is obsessed
with meeting 'housing aspirations', needs to be challenged by those of us that remain concerned with gentrification and its
harmful effects as well as the more general problem of the politically managed marginalization of working class people in the now
so sexy city. Critical researchers take note of the conference and think about offering a critical paper on 'housing markets' that
will disturb the nice and cosy consensus that will no doubt otherwise prevail at this conference. Details of the conference are
