At a previous authority we used a very simple algorithm, very
transparent and defensible. Your IT/ GIS folk should be able to
incorporate it into your existing set up, and you can increase
complexity and functionality depending on the nature of the data sets
you have and your own Council's priorities.

Subject: Re-prioritisation - new money for old rope.
All,
Ashfield-DC initially prioritised its sites using an in-house paper
based
methodology. We are currently dealing with the top 16 sites identified
through this work - so far desktop studies completed for all, one site
intrusively investigated and one due for January.
Rightly or wrongly we are looking to run with these 16 sites whilst re-
prioritising the remaining sites. This is for two reasons - firstly I
am trying to
get all information in an electronic format which can be easily
interrogated,
secondly a question marks remains as to whether the process used has
skewed the sites towards the protection of groundwater (unfortunately
the
current data format does not allow for easy re-assessment)
This time around I want to make sure that the authority uses an
electronic
system which is linked to the corporate GIS - MapInfo. Can anyone
recommend suitable prioritisation software (don't need a data management
system) which runs in, or links directly to MapInfo?
Cheers
Ian
