COMMUNITY HISTORIAN
The Hackney Society is looking for an experienced Community Historian with
expertise in oral history and reminiscence work.
As Community Historian you will support and work with the Project Officer
and volunteers to help deliver elements of our Heritage Lottery Fund project
From Fever to Consumption: the Story of Healthcare in Hackney.
You will be responsible for the delivery of reminiscence sessions with older
people; training volunteers; ensuring that oral history interviews and
research are good quality; uploading content to the community history
website; undertaking any additional research required that has not been done
by the volunteers; and conducting volunteer appraisals. This freelance work
requires an enhanced CRB check. The Project Officer will support this work
by assisting with the recruitment of volunteers, and finding oral history
and reminiscence informants.
The contract is for approx. 32 days work between January and September
2009.
